Day Trip to Salzburg by Train

  • English English
  • 10 hours

Salzburg is one of the most beautiful places in Austria. With this excursion by train from Munich, you will see the birth city of Mozart in total comfort. A must-see!

Salzburg Day Trip

The tour meets in the Munich Hauptbahnhof station, where we will take a train to Salzburg: enjoying the beautiful Bavarian Alps which separate Germany and Austria over the course of two hours.

Having arrived in Salzburg, we will begin our tour along the banks of the River Salzach, to admire the city's old town. We'll see the Mirabell Palace, and visit its extensive gardens as we learn about the history of this Baroque building. Did you know that the archbishop of Salzburg built it to house his lover?

the tour continues through the old town, where we will get to know some of the main buildings in the city, such as Mozart's house, the city market, the old market and the Salzburg cathedral. During the tour we'll learn about the history of the city and its relation with music: legends such as Mozart, Haydn, Karajan or even the Von Trapp family were born or lived in the city.

After you will have free time to enjoy Salzburg at your own pace, you can eat in one of the restaurants of cafes in the centre, pass through the narrow medieval streets or discover the shops in the city. Then in the evening, we will return again by train, back to the Munich central station, where the tour ends.

Important Information

During the excursion, we will cross the border with Austria. You must bring with you a valid passport or means of identification to cross the border. If you are not a citizen of the European Union you should have the necessary visa to visit Austria.
