Munich's shops, monuments and museums may not share the same opening times as your city. They all tend to be open during the daytime, so if you're planning to shop and enjoy a few cultural activities, you'll need to plan your activities to make sure you can visit everything!
Shop opening times
Most big stores in the city centre are open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 8 pm; and Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm. Smaller local or independent shops will probably shut earlier, around 6:30 pm, and may shut at midday for a lunch break.
The majority of shops are closed on Sundays, so if you're planning food shopping for a picnic, or purchasing souvenirs, do it in advance to avoid disappointment! If you're really desperate, some train station shops are open on Sundays.
You're unlikely to find 24 hour shops here.
Museum & monument opening times
The opening times of Munich's tourist attractions vary, but in general, most are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. They're often closed on Mondays, but some offer discounted entry on Sundays! Each page of this travel guide includes the opening times for the specific place of interest, so make sure you check them out before visiting.
Mealtimes in Munich
While you'll find that café style eateries are open throughout the day, the main times to eat a meal in Munich are between 11:30 am to 2 pm for lunch, and between 6 pm and 9 pm for dinner. However, restaurants are usually open from 5 or 6 pm until 11 pm or midnight, and the breweries, like the famous Hofbrauhaus, tend to be open from around 9 am till late.
