Weather in Munich

Spring, summer, autumn or winter. Learn all about the weather in Munich so you can decide when to travel and what to pack!

Munich has a continental climate affected by its proximity to the Alps. The city has cold winters and warm summers, with rain throughout the year.

Summer in Munich

Summers (June to August) are warm with moderate temperatures: the warmest month is usually July, with average highs of around 24ºC or 75ºF and lows of 14ºC or 58ºF. June has the highest amount of rain though, so a light rain jacket and umbrella are recommended!

Munich in winter

Winters (November to February) are cold and often snowy. Average temperatures range between -2ºC (27ºF) and 2ºC (32ºF). On the plus side, these months have the least rain, but you will need to pack a warm coat and lots of layers!

When should I visit Munich?

The city is beautiful and full of life at any time of year. The festive spirit over Christmas is well worth wrapping up warm; if you don't mind risking the chance of rain, the summer temperatures are lovely; for the best chance of sunshine, head there during spring, and if you're not bothered about the weather and just want to experience Oktoberfest, book for autumn!
